Even the finest super-soldier suit can end up as expensive deadweight if the batteries run out of juice. Lockheed Martin wants to avoid that fate for its robotic exoskeleton by turning to fuel cells that can power the suit for days, The Register reports.
Lockheed's Human Universal Load Carrier (HULC) is a mechanized frame that allows soldiers to march or even run easily with loads of 200 pounds, as well as squat or kneel without trouble. But the current li-ion batteries supporting the suit typically run down after just a few hours of walking, not to mention running.
That could all change with fuel cells that could sustain 72-hour missions on a single charge, and provide power sockets to spare for military accessories that require their own batteries. Lockheed announced its choice of the Protonex Technology Corporation to develop such fuel cells on Wednesday.
We here at PopSci love our Iron Man suits, and so we're happy to see longer-lasting versions in the works. After all, it'd be a shame for our robotic warfighters to run down when the Energizer Bunny keeps going on its dinky batteries
...and I wasnt that Impressed (and yes i saw it in 3D). Now I am a film fanatic! I try to watch a new movie every day, or one I havent seen in a while. I love being pulled into the movie to where I feel like I'm one of the characters. I love feeling what they feel. This didnt happen to me in avatar. I think this is because the story is one that you see over and over. In case you havent seen it, I wont spoil it for you, buuut if you've seen, Pocahontas, King Kong, planet of the apes, starwars, Titanic, delgo or tron... then ... welll... you've seen Avatar.
As far as presentation and graphics, This is one of the best movies ever. Visually it was amazing, but I've never been one for looks... need substance to ride on the back of my bike baby... and I didnt find that in Avatar.
First off, let me start by saying that she's going to be the perfect mom. For as long as I've been alive shes been like a second mom! Loving, caring, supportive, protective (the list goes on). She already treats all of her friends kids like they're hers, and its about time she gets one of her own.
Its been a long road for her trying to conceive , but now she has reached the end of that road, and is ready to start a whole new journey! Join me in my excitment! Im On my way to being a real Uncle! lol
lol.. my mom sent me this via text msg the other day... this is one of the christmas gifts I got for her. I thought it would be hillarious for her to walk around Simi Valley with a sweater saying she loves her hood! (lol)
I ran out of gas today on the 405... smh.. wth was I trying to go with .8 gallons of gas!? Lol... Me and Hope. were stranded on the side of the fwy rapping until Brandi aka The Bword (my hero) saved the day. what a way to start the day.... lol
This is a New leak from the homey Intuition taken from "Girls Like Me", which will be dropping on January 26th. I was lucky enough to be in the studio when Raquel layed her vocals, and I instantly fell in love with the song. Definitely worth the download, and Im sure it will make one of the "Laid Back" play lists on your ipod.
